A Psychosomatic Analysis

According to the technical definition, Masochism is a psychological disorder which can be termed as willingness or tendency to subject oneself to unpleasant or trying experiences. In our daily life, we usually see many people around us inviting troubles for themselves. There is a whole some proverb in Urdu language tailor made for this disorder and it goes somewhat like, “Bull, Come and hit me”.
Psychological analysis of Pakistani masses leads us to the fact that Pakistani people by and large are inclined towards Masochism. Frustration as a result of desperation for basic needs in Pakistan is largely responsible for this dilemma. As individuals make societies and societies makes nations, in the same manner the individual psychology has its definite foot print on the society and nation as well. In consequence, people representing masses in Pakistani Parliament, Bureaucracy or Courts bear this signature psychological disorder with different variations (as per environments prevailing in each case). Point to ponder is something very serious, if people with this psychological disease are in majority at the helm of the affairs, critical decisions are bound to be effected and result can be horrendous for the people of Pakistan. Frankly speaking, this has been a case in short history of this Nation. To make it easy to understand this joke will do the trick (though vulgarity is not my second nature).
A sadist, a masochist, a murderer, a necrophile (sexually attracted towards corpses), a zoophile (attracted towards sexual activity between humans and animals) and a pyromaniac (who tends to set ablaze objects to relieve tension) were all sitting on a bench in a mental institution, bored and out of their minds….naturally.
"How about having sex with a cat?" asked the zoophile."Let's have sex with the cat and then torture it," says the sadist.
"Let's have sex with the cat, torture it and then kill it," shouted the murderer.
"Let's have sex with the cat, torture it, kill it and then have sex with it again," said the necrophile.
"Let's have sex with the cat, torture it, kill it, have sex with it again and then burn it," said the pyromaniac.
Silence took over… and the masochist uttered with readiness:
“MEEAON (Meow)”
This excited “Meeaon” was heard very first in 1952 and Pakistan aligned with US signing off the regional perspective of global politics. The same was repeated again and again, till Musharraf’s most renowned “yes to all” after 9/11. Probably his biggest intangible blunder was the “Meeaon” which was uttered for the creation of so called free media. Purposefully speaking this was one of the most lethal “Meeaon” ever voiced by any leader of Pakistan, that too without any parameters, rules and regulations for this most ill-disciplined, masochist, and by and large an appropriated entity of Pakistani society.
It has been more than 10 years now that this Nation was hijacked by this unit. The way it thinks, conceives and executes, reminds me of so many proverbs but the best one is “To make a mountain out of a molehill”. Please bear in mind the effects of masochist disorder on Pakistani society and media is no exception to this.
Recipe for ‘Creating a Mountain out of a Mole Hill’ is best known to the media world especially Pakistani media and this media cannot take any credit from the westerners who are responsible to provide baseless or partially baseless Mole Hills to our pseudo intellectuals.
Our media is well trained in mountain making out of mole hills, first of all, by remarkable selection of the latter, precise stirring of the pot to make a real good mountain, adding the required ingredients for correctly sized mountain and selecting the right heat through insane but glamorous chapters. You need to keep Veena Malik’s idiot stories coming up as “breaking news” in mind for precision understanding of the elaborated procedure. Stories of these sorts occupy the media space unnecessarily, while keeping the important issues at bay.
This is how this world of news media is made to run!
The question is now, why it is happening so frequently and easily in Pakistan? One factor was highlighted above (The Masochism of Pakistani Society) but there is yet another side of the coin which has to be explored in order to reach a conclusive answer.
Narcissism is a term used for mental illness, a social or cultural problem, or simply a personality trait. In everyday speech, "narcissism" actually means inflated self-importance, egotism, vanity, conceit, or simple selfishness. Applied to a social group, it is sometimes used to denote elitism or an indifference to the plight of others. In psychology, the term is used to describe self-love and unhealthy self-absorption due to a disturbance in the sense of self. The selfish makeup of American society was very rightly indicated by famous American philosopher Leo Strauss more than fifty years back as “American selfish Individualism”.
Definition of Narcissism coupled with American selfish individualism by itself takes us to the actions and reactions of US government,
clearly indicating their narcissist mindset. Killing millions of people for 2784 US nationals; Invading Iraq on the pretext of a BIG LIE; Training Taliban against USSR then killing them judiciously in the name of saving humanity and now again ready to talk to these people for peace are all signs of the explained phenomenon. As they say everything is fair in love and war, they are ditching Pakistan once again, but what they have forgotten (because of the narcissist disorder) is the geo strategic location of Pakistan. All Pushtuns may not be Taliban but it’s a sour fact for US that all Taliban are Pushtuns and number of Pushtuns in Pakistan is not less than Afghanistan. US must get its disease cured but to an extent that they should not turn Masochist! And this is quite likely in this setting.
I couldn’t stop myself to write the last three lines.
Somebody asked "How do you drown a narcissist?" and someone replied “Put a mirror at the bottom of the swimming pool”….As they are in self-love.
And I think the world has found the required swimming pool for US in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

mr raza khan, what you say is pertinent and eye-opening what you fail to mention is that on a deeper level then even politics, religiously we have been buggered for so many decades.
after all. its we who have instituted RIBA in banking totally aginst Allahs commands!
its we who have submitted to the UNSC resolutions and UN political order biased against islam and muslims and to the detriment of mankind as a whole!
its we who accept the Un,s final decisions as supreme and yet we believe Allah is sovereign!

From the outset it seemed a good sign that the director, Antony Thomas, had opted to spell "Quran" correctly – ignoring the recent resurgence amongst certain rightwing commentators in the phonetically incorrect (and frankly quite irritating) "Koran" spelling – which is probably typed with the same lip-curling sneer that they type "Moslem" with.
